MESPOM is an Erasmus+; Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's Degree in Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management operated by four leading European and two North American universities. The students study in at least three out of six consortium universities and are awarded a joint degree upon completion. Bringing together the best from the excellent partner institutions and offering on-site insight into multiple cultures with diverse environmental regimes, MESPOM prepares students for identifying and implementing solutions to complex environmental sustainability challenges, especially in an international context. The multifaceted educational journey also creates a unique platform for the vibrant alumni network that characterises this programme.

In this double degree programme, you spend the first year at either Universidad Carlos III de Madrid or the University of Groningen. The programme trains the next generation of analysts, researchers and professionals in the field of development and growth. It combines the expertise of three highly ranked European universities into a common platform with leading scholars in economics, economic history and demography. A hallmark of the programme is the emphasis on the personal contact between professors and students, achieved by small classes. You will, in close supervision of a highly qualified faculty member, complete two independent research projects (theses) both at the end of year 1 and year 2 of the programme.

Increasing disasters and related losses are a truly global challenge. Governments and international organisations acknowledge the necessity to increase efforts in risk management and climate change adaptation to adjust to changing environments and develop safe and sustainable societies. The programme offers a mix of practical and theoretical learning with a strong focus on group work, the interaction between students and teaching staff, as well as important actors within this field of study. It contributes to meeting the need for qualified professionals who have a broad understanding of the field and ability to apply skills and generic tools in risk assessment, capacity assessment, preparedness and contingency planning, and risk-based land use planning.

The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in Food Innovation and Product Design (FIPDes) is a two-year academic programme in the field of food science and product development offered through cooperation between five European universities. Graduates will be able to take on the huge challenges and opportunities in the sector of food innovation, product design and packaging. They will typically either start their own manufacturing or consulting business, find positions either in their country or in a national branch of a major international food brand, or they will return to academia as doctoral students within the food/innovation field.

LUMID is an interdisciplinary programme focusing on international development and management. The programme offers students a unique combination of theoretical knowledge, applied research methods and management skills pertaining to a range of current development areas. Seventy per cent of our students find work within the development sector within a year of graduating. Our alumni have successfully gained employment in an extensive number of development organisations worldwide, ranging from multilateral organisations (e.g. various UN agencies) and international aid and cooperation agencies (e.g. Sida) to non-governmental organisations. LUMID is a member of the Global Association for Master’s in Development Practice (MDP).

For the practical ‘doer’ that likes to work cross-functionally with others to transform business, this programme provides students with the resources, mindset and skills necessary to build a successful career in this field. It uses a multidisciplinary approach to the design, planning and management of supply chains and logistics strategies and teaches students both quantitative and qualitative problem-solving techniques that are applied through case studies, project work, business games and simulations. Graduates find employment in areas such as purchasing, packaging, warehousing, inventory management, production, transportation and supply chain management at companies like IKEA, Tetra Pak, Alfa Laval, Kintetsu World Express and Jungheinrich.

This international Master’s programme emphases critical approaches to social and cultural issues in media and communications. Taught in Lund at a high-ranking research-led department, our courses focus on contemporary debates about knowledge, power and social relations. We aim to broaden students’ understanding of global media structures and processes by tackling issues and theories related to media engagement, democracy and cultural citizenship, media industries and creativity, gender, health and society, audiences, popular culture and everyday life; providing students with theoretical and empirical tools. Coming from a range of backgrounds, our students gain the critical skills necessary to evaluate and understand media in a range of professional and private sphere research-led careers.

This extremely intensive, one-year, full-time programme prepares recent non-business graduates for a wide range of careers in management. You will learn to apply the skills you acquire in a range of areas including marketing, strategic management, business consultancy and organisational development. You will refine and build upon your communication, teamwork and presentation skills through individual and group work, and develop your professional skills in decision-making, problem-solving, analysis and critical reflection. During the studies, you are continuously encouraged to reflect, apply and relate new knowledge to future career ambitions. Some key elements of the programme are the base team; the learning journal; the learning tutorial; career coaching; shadowing a manager; the organisation project; the business game.

With new challenges for architecture such as denser cities, increased globalisation, climate adaptation and the rapid evolution of technology, the need for skilled architects who understand these challenges is growing. This programme combines independent, design-led studios with theoretical and practical courses where students learn to find future-focused solutions to real-world issues in order to produce skilled graduates that can compete on a global level. Students can choose from two specialisations: Advanced Architectural Design or Spatial Experiment (Architecture and Digital Process).

Wil je de innerlijke werking van de natuur vanuit een theoretisch oogpunt begrijpen? Bij de afdeling Astronomie en Theoretische Fysica, samen met de Afdeling Natuurkunde in Lund, bieden we een breed programma aan dat een breed scala aan onderwerpen in de theoretische en wiskundige natuurkunde omvat. Je kunt ervoor kiezen om de kleinste bestanddelen van materie en hun interacties binnen de theoretische hoge-energiefysica te bestuderen, evenals de nucleaire en vaste-stoffysica binnen de wiskundige fysica. In alle gevallen krijg je een solide basis van theoretische kennis die nodig is om nieuwe modellen te ontwikkelen en om beter te begrijpen hoe de natuur werkt.

De 21ste eeuw is de eeuw van het foton en fotonica is de wetenschap en technologie voor het genereren, controleren en detecteren van fotonen. Dit programma is bedoeld om getalenteerde studenten op te leiden in de wetenschap en technologie die achter de fotonicarevolutie liggen. Je krijgt een diepgaand inzicht in optica en lasertechnologie en praktische ervaring in optisch ontwerp. Ervaar het werken in moderne optica- en laserlaboratoria en verwerf gedetailleerde kennis van belangrijke fotonica-toepassingen (bijv. Communicatie of medische optica). Het Photonics-programma is gekoppeld aan toonaangevende onderzoeksactiviteiten op het gebied van optica, lasers en hun toepassingen, uitgevoerd in het Lund Laser Center. Je verkrijgt universele vaardigheden die je voorbereiden om uit te blinken in zowel industriële als academische toekomstige carrières.

Het programma heeft tot doel de algemene geschiedenis van productie en distributie, bevolking en levensstandaard, instellingen en sociale organisatie te verkennen. Je doet kennis op om onderzoeken en analyses uit te voeren met betrekking tot veranderingen in sociale en economische omstandigheden onder verschillende omstandigheden. Het programma is onderverdeeld in drie verschillende tracks: economische geschiedenis, economische demografie of economische ontwikkeling. Bij je aanmelding voor de opleiding kies je ook in welke track je je wilt specialiseren. De verschillende tracks delen tot op zekere hoogte cursussen.

Dit programma voorziet u van een grondig begrip van strategisch denken en de belangrijkste vaardigheden van internationaal bedrijfsadvies. We bieden de nieuwste inzichten in managementstrategie door middel van een verscheidenheid aan kleinschalige lesmethoden, wat zorgt voor een spannende en uitdagende leerervaring. We leggen de nadruk op zowel geavanceerde wetenschappelijke inzichten als verbanden met de bedrijfspraktijk. Afgestudeerden van dit programma kunnen posities zoeken in nationale, internationale en wereldwijde bedrijven met leidinggevende functies, evenals specialistische rollen binnen organisatorische instellingen. Er is steeds meer vraag naar kennis op deze specialisatiegebieden en er zijn in de Scandinavische landen zeer weinig of geen masterprogramma's met deze aantrekkelijke specialisatie.

Het begrijpen van eiwitten staat centraal bij het begrijpen en oplossen van zowel medische als biochemische problemen op moleculair niveau. Dit programma onderzoekt de moleculaire structuren en functionele mechanismen van een groot aantal eiwitten. Afgestudeerden van het programma beheersen methoden voor het klonen, expressie en zuivering van eiwitten, en een aantal gespecialiseerde technieken voor het analyseren van eiwitten. Ze zullen ook in staat zijn om primaire wetenschappelijke publicaties te begrijpen en te gebruiken en om zelfstandig experimenten te plannen, uit te voeren en kritisch te evalueren.
