Additional Requirements
Stage (200 uur)
Deze intensieve stage is vereist voor het afronden van de graad. Van studenten wordt verwacht dat ze 200 uur werken bij een stedelijke of publieke organisatie, waaronder politieke campagnes, belangenbehartigingsorganisaties, overheidsinstanties, gemeenschaps- of buurtverenigingen of andere soortgelijke entiteiten. Stageplaatsing wordt gefaciliteerd door faculteit en personeel en geleid door een supervisor ter plaatse. Stages kunnen vroeg in het eerste jaar van het programma beginnen, maar veel stages vinden plaats in de zomer na het eerste jaar van de cursus. De stage-uren moeten voltooid zijn voordat het afstudeerproject begint, meestal aan het begin van het tweede jaar van de cursus.
Colloquium
Onze wekelijkse colloquiumserie omvat gastdocenten en presentaties door faculteitsleden, samen met trainingen en ondersteuning voor loopbaanontwikkeling. Studenten registreren zich elk semester voor het colloquium.
Programma resultaat
Students will:
- Toon een theoretisch, praktisch en ethisch begrip van gemeenschapsverandering, door middel van praktijken zoals pleitbezorging voor het publieke beleid, campagnes en/of politieke/gemeenschapsorganisatie
- Kritisch analyseren van problemen in stedelijk en regionaal beleid en politiek met behulp van verschillende onderzoeksmethoden
- Toon aan dat u in staat bent om effectief mondeling en schriftelijk te communiceren
- Evalueer en ontwikkel stedelijk en regionaal beleid, waarbij u leert modellen van maatschappelijke verandering te plaatsen binnen historische en regionale contexten.
- Draag bij aan een geïnformeerd publiek debat over hedendaagse politieke en stedelijke beleidskwesties door kwesties op het gebied van openbaar beleid, belangenbehartiging, gemeenschapsorganisatie, politiek en openbare dienstverlening aan te pakken.
Beurzen en financiering
The MSCS program offers a limited number of merit-based scholarships to incoming and current graduate students, both domestic and international, on a competitive basis.
MSCS Admission Scholarship
Awarded to incoming MSCS applicants with outstanding applications from all backgrounds. Approximate awards range up to $5k over the first year of study.
MSCS Merit Scholarship
Awarded to incoming MSCS applicants with outstanding applications from all backgrounds, or current MSCS graduate students who demonstrate outstanding skills and leadership. Approximate awards range from $5–10k over one to two semesters.
The Dean's Scholarship
An award of up to $15,000 to use toward tuition, research, and conference travel. Connect with other Dean's Scholarship recipients and leaders across the College of Arts & Sciences. Serve as a program representative to USF donor initiatives to help transform the lives of other USF students. Double Dons Scholarship
USF Alumni and current students can be awarded the USF Double Dons Scholarship upon admission. The scholarship covers 20% of the program tuition, and may not be stacked with other USF scholarship awards. Exceptions may apply.
